How can a Bible verse inspire a FALL MANTLE?
Psalm 120:5-6
sowing and reaping
and HARVEST was born - so I went with it. It is a good word for the FALL season and it will take me right through Thanksgiving.
{ HERE'S WHAT I DID }
~ I tried bringing the verse to LIFE - put some skin on it if you will ~
~ bring nature inside...organic and earthy ~
~DETAILS I used things I had around the house, filled them, tied them, mod podged them and painted them~
Keep going until it "feels" right
I knew I wanted aged character and I did that by painting the fireplace mantle, hanging an old window over the insert { to somewhat hide it :} I added FALL foilage...one of the twigs I collected while on my morning jog!
Candles, ribbon, twine, old books, mason jars, wire, pumpkins, cinnamon sticks all add to the story.
I mod podged a piece of plywood we cut to fit the insert with an old farmers almanac and then stamped the words family and Gather and a bird.
I typed the verse and mod podged it then I glazed over the whole thing.
I made the little wreath with wire and a deconstructed vine.
Unfortunately ~ I could not get rid of the speakers or tv
BUT
the vases { which I got for 4.00 ea. on clearance at JoAnn's and I sprayed them black ~ They were copper}
kind of hide
the two side speakers.
Does any other woman deal with the TV issue...lol??
Hope you ENJOY!

That's a really lovely idea! It never occurred to me to try something like that! I think my next mantle design will have to be inspired by a verse that's really speaking to me lately! Thanks for sharing! Your mantle looks lovely!
So pretty...all of it!
Your fantel is stunning! Love the window over the fireplace opening. It's all just so beautiful!
You painted your mantel?! Girl, I love your bravery!! and love what you did with it! I am so going to have my sweetheart make an insert for me to modpodge! When we get a home with a mantel, that is :) I'm here via The Nester and love your site. Happy Fall!
This is exquisite! Your mantel is amazing ... I love how your painted the surround. So rustic ... I admire your talent and can't wait to see more! Thanks for sharing, *Becca* (Adventures in Decorating)

LOve it and want to do this with my fire place and the window that looks from my kitchen into our school room!! (your newest follower)!
Oh, it's gorgeous! I love how you painted your fireplace and added that window over the opening. It gave it so much character. So glad you could join my party today--thanks for sharing this! :-)
It looks beautiful, Tiffini! You did an amazing job. YOu are so talented, and love the verse.
Your home seems so cozy! Love the mantle-found you through the Nest.
Love what you did! So artistic and inspiring and all based off a Bible verse! I especially like the window over the opening. It may be a silly question but how did you hang it? I would like to do something like this to mine but it is surrounded by tile so I am not sure how I would secure the window. Also, you are not alone with the TV issue. While ours is not over the mantle is it obnoxiously big and of course those darn seakers! HA! Thanks for sharing your creations!
Tiffini! Please come help me decorate my home, please, lol. This is so beautiful, I just love it ! It's so inviting, calming, and it makes it more like "Home" and not just a house!
Thank You for what you do and sharing!
Simply gorgeous! I love your fireplace. I did a finish on ours similar to yours but our wall color made it look awful. Yours truly looks beautiful! I also am digging the background paper!
Hi Lauren ~ thanks so much for taking the time to visit me AND your affirming words:)
I used command strips to hang the window. I got the heavy duty ones...I also used a FAMILY sign stand thing...you can barely see it - that I put under the window just to give it support. The command strips seem to stick to about anything...let me know how it goes!
I love your mantel. What a neat idea.
I'm LOVING your mantle! Plywood insert, genius! Window covering gas log insert! Genius! I also love the distressed finish on your mantle, and the garland. Great job! This is going in my inspiration file!
I really like the idea of bringing the verse to life! It turned out great!
